Do not covet what you see in magazines, on TV, on billboards. Force yourself to remember that none of it is real. None of it actually exists. Those ads are meant to make you feel bad about yourself so you will go out and consume.
In 2010, in the US alone, $60 billion dollars were spent on weight loss products.
Almost half of young girls aged 3-6 are worried about being fat.
Even Disney is promoting eating disorders.
If you’re thinking about your new years resolutions for 2012, instead of ‘lose weight’ or ‘get skinny’, make your goal to love yourself more. Make your goal to stop listening to ads that tell you you’re not good enough, and instead to decide your own self-worth. If you’re really ambitious, make your goal to fight back.
You are worth so much more than the media would have you believe.
Love,
Amber.
